“Somewhere that was once quite
familiar, now empty. All that remains
is grass, gravel, trees and not
bloody much else...
No more school kids running around
transitioning from kids to teenagers
to young adults.”

“My dad passed away a year today. For
the most part, my answer to the
oft-asked question from friends and
acquaintances whom enquire kindly,
"How are you coping?" has been, "I'm
fine," or in the capacity of
unofficial family spokesperson,
"We're fine." And I am, and we are.”

“Some of the things that happened:
- kids loved my Winnie the Pooh
floating balloons
- too much good food
- no chance to put the cookies I made
together for a photoshoot!
- kids are too noisy!
- one of the kids asked me for help
in the toilet. Oh joy! ”

“The weather's been a little cold (but
not was cold as Seattle), but with
all the sunshine, and the ocean air,
I don't mind. Plus, all the walking
around has been helping to negate how
much food I've been eating. Heh.”

“Thesis, my love, my ever-challenging
soul wrecker. You, my sweetest, my
most despised, will be the death of me.
a tenuous line that meanders off in
two directions. One dictates life be
led one way, while the other wanders
over a hazily outlined hillside,
stretching beyond the scope of simple
conjecture and into a land beyond
charted seas.”

“I really enjoyed watching the movie
Up. Elderly people are my favorite
types of patients and I am always in
awe of them because they've done so
much with their lives. Most of
society associates being old with
being weak and decrepit. Up didn't
play to those stereotypes though, and
shows a moving story of an elderly
man achieving his dreams. It shows he
can accomplish quite a lot still,
actually.”

“I can't remember now if he had
considered me his girlfriend, nor do
I recall if he ever said he loved me
even if there was certainly much
affection between us. See, although
he spoke English well enough to study
in the US, he thought in his own
language and oftentimes what he said
and what I'd tell him would get
completely lost in translation.”

you have what's drafted deep in your

projected out as simply as possible
without confusion or misunderstandings.”

“I wish I was still active duty some
times, I still don't miss the
insanity I had put up with. I don't
even pride myself on the 7 years luck
I've had not deploying, I only lost 3
friends in theater, but still that
doesn't warrant the fact that I
should be stuck in a staff position
my whole career. I feel like Captain
Nixon in Band of Brothers... I know
I'm losing out on some life
experience. I distaste having a lucky
strike...”

“I say, thank you. All those
sleepless nights of procrastination,
all those fastfood places that my
friends and I went to for sustenance,
all those times where I just wanted
to cry until I had my master's degree
in my hand..... paid off. While
there are days that I have homework
from my job... last week's homework
consisted of finding a simple reading
for my colleagues to enjoy at our
monthly seminar.”

“Thank goodness I haven't exhibited
flu-like symptoms like many of my
students have--or claim to have:
"Sensei, I am exhibiting flu-like
symptoms and am unable to attend
class today." Hmmm... sounds like a
cut and paste job from an email sent
by the dean. Oh well, what can you
do? I have yet to exhibit
anything-knock on wood-but you never
know.”

“Can you really expect the governments
to try and save people? If I was
responsible for trying to preserve
the human race, priority would first
go to the smartest, most intelligent
people on the planet--mostly
scientists and other people of
extreme higher learning. I might try
and save some of the animals like in
Noah's Ark, but what about artifacts?
Should we try and preserve the Mona
Lisa? I think I would rather house
more books than art pieces.”

can't possibly start cleaning out
that part of the room just yet, I've
yet to clean my bags out, my tables
(desk and coffee table), do my
laundry, dust my little notice board
(it's just a bit of wrapping paper
plastered on my wall) and clear out
the junk I don't need or want
anymore. Tidy up my books and find a

“I think we, as a nation, still have
this romantic idea of heroism. One
has to die. One has to win a battle
(or a boxing tournament and singing
contest). One has to leave the
country and endure being alone in a
foreign land. One has to be
recognized by the entire world. One
has to be kidnapped. And other things
that would seamlessly fit the plot of
Kill Bill 3.”

“Well, I got caught up in life and my
camera was left at home. These days I
can't carry much around with me
because I'm carrying a 4kg+ baby in
my belly. I've been caught up getting
the tea house and my staff up to
speed before I go off line and have
my baby and will be absent for a
week. It's still three weeks away but
I gotta start now because that's just
how I roll.”

“After the run, while I was
stretching, some gentleman approached
me and asked about what kind of
stretch is appropriate for his legs.
Our post race stretching lead to some
talks about running. It was his
second run, as he and his wife did
enjoy running 5k at the previous
Botak run. I think, he's strong for a
sub 30 first time 5k finisher. Also,
I told him that I learned those
stretches and running techniques from
the Team Bald Runner Running Clinic.”
